Canada Day Celebrations

We're gearing up and excited to welcome you back for the Canada Day Celebrations in Palmer Park!

Join us on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, down at Palmer Park for a fun-filled day. Starting with the classic Vettes-for-Vets Parade, to the live performances, the Kids' Zone, and the grand finale fireworks, we hope to see you down at the park throughout the day to celebrate with us.

10:30 a.m. | Canada Day Parade featuring "Vettes-for-Vets" 

Parade features new & antique cars, bands, and local community groups. It will begin on Queen Street and continue through Historic Downtown Port Perry. It will end on Water Street before proceeding into Palmer Park.

11:00 a.m. | Official Canada Day Opening Ceremonies

Includes the singing of the National Anthem by Bella Guidotti and serving of the Canada Day Cupcake Cake provided by Vos' Independent. 

12:00 to 6:00 p.m. | Kids' Zone

Hosted by Scugog Recreation and the Scugog Shores Museum. Enjoy inflatables, a giant colouring mural, games, activities and more. 

12:00 to 6:00 p.m. | Fire Safety Booth

Provided by the Township of Scugog's Fire Department. 

12:30 p.m. | Hot Dog BBQ

A free hot dog lunch provided by Maple Leaf Foods. 

12:30 p.m. | Live Performances Begin

2:00 p.m. | Pizza in the Park

Enjoy a free pizza slice provided by Domino's Pizza Port Perry. 

2:00 to 10:00 p.m. | Beverage Area (19+)

Presented by Old Flame Brewing Company

10:00 p.m. | Fireworks

Experience the firework show over Lake Scugog presented by Supernova Fireworks.

The Canada Day Vettes for Vets parade takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The parade starts at Ottawa Street and goes down Queen Street to Palmer Park where Opening Ceremonies begin at 11:00 a.m.

Community groups are welcome to participate in the parade. Groups are required to register with the events team by contacting events@scugog.ca

Please note there will also be various road closures throughout the day:

  • Water Street:
    • Mary to Queen: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
    • Mary to Casimir: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Queen Street:
    • Ottawa to Simcoe: 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Simcoe to Water: 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Ottawa Street (Queen to McDonald): 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • McDonald Street (Ottawa to Rosa): 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Rosa Street (Queen to McDonald): 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Please keep these closures in mind when visiting the area.

Canada Day is organized by a volunteer committee together with staff to offer a memorable, fun, and entertaining day in Palmer Park.

Our Canada Day Celebrations are made possible thanks to our event sponsors. Each year, the Township strives to create an event that benefits all members of our community, including our local businesses. Our Canada Day Celebration this year is the perfect opportunity to relaunch your presence in the community.

Attendees can register to reserve one of four group seating areas, fitted with six Muskoka chairs and two tables! There are two time slots avialable:

  • 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. - $50 per seating area
  • 6:00 to 10:30 p.m. - $100 per seating area - SOLD OUT (waitlist spots available)

These seating areas can be reserved through the Township of Scugog's program registration portal, in-person at the Scugog Arena, or by contacting recreation@scugog.ca or 905-985-8698

Registrants are asked to visit the Scugog Tourism trailer the day of the event to receive your seating pass. Proof of purchase is required.
